Lille Europe for City breaks by Eurostar

Lille Europe is the name of the Eurostar station at Lille, a city in the north of France which is closer than either Paris or Brussels to the channel tunnel.

So what's there to do in Lille that might make you want to choose the city for Eurostar breaks ?

Apart from the huge shopping centre there is a burgeoning  modern art scene in Lille with several high quality galleries worth a visit. The flemish old town centre is of interest and so is the big christmas market that takes place each year in the run up to the winter holidays season.

Travel time: By Eurostar from London: 1 hours 20min or if you are driving Lille is 70 miles from Calais.

  1. The Eurostar is great and it opens up opportunities to destinations all over Europe. I have been thinking of going to Germany later on in the year. We are taking a Hamburg city breaks holiday then moving towards Munich! Can't wait. Great post!
